01 / THE PROJECT
Pintec completed the replacement of twelve communal cold-water storage tanks across three residential blocks, with four tanks installed at each location.
The package covered removal of the existing tanks, assembly of new sectional GRP tanks and alterations to the connecting pipework. Working within existing buildings meant coordinating access routes, available working space and resident access throughout the works.
02 / OUR SCOPE
Pintec supplied the plumbing materials and carried out the replacement works, installing tanks supplied by the M&E contractor.
Our project deliveryIsolation and drain-down formed part of the replacement sequence, with a temporary bypass included in the method to feed the existing down services during the changeover.
Dismantling existing tanks into manageable sections for removal through the available access, followed by assembly of the new sectional tanks.
Associated copper pipework, new isolation valves and connections to the existing water services, together with overflow pipework.
The installation method covered checks on the tank support, panels, seals and fixings, followed by progressive filling and inspection of joints and connections.
03 / PLANNING THE WORK
The project method set out the sequence from isolation to reconnection, with specific checks for the existing building and the new tank installation.
Material handling and tank removal were planned around the available stairs, lifts and access hatches. Resident routes and communal areas were included in the access arrangements.
Tank height and position needed to suit the existing down-service connections. Pintec coordinated these requirements with the contractor before assembly on the prepared support.
Delivery checks, panel assembly checks and monitoring during filling were included in the documented method, providing a consistent sequence across the replacement programme.
THE REPLACEMENT TANK
The replacement works reduced tank capacity from 3,000 litres to 1,500 litres per tank, reflecting changes to the wider building services and reduced storage requirements.
New sectional tanks were assembled within the existing spaces and connected to the retained distribution pipework.
